With separate streams for music, stage, and 'tech', this camp shines the spotlight on your particular passion. You'll spend a week in the company of others, working to stage a show that's built all around you! You'll get unique insight and great practical tips from leaders who are specialists in their field. So whether you're a guitarist, or a budding actress; whether you're an experienced jazz drummer, or just want to try your hand at something new; if you're serious about improving your ability, or simply want to spend time 'playing' alongside others, Showtime offers a holiday like no other. Along with lorry-loads of state of the art equipment, we've got some amazing leaders on board this year, skilled in the different disciplines of music and theatre. These same leaders will open the Bible alongside you too - just for a few minutes each day. Whether you are a Christian or no, you'll find these short times informative and unpressured. No drama! Showtime has plenty of that! Although there will be opportunities to get involved in lots of different aspects of our production, at Showtime you choose one main discipline on which to concentrate. Stage Depending on your strengths and your preferences, you may find yourself with one of the several main acting/speaking roles, singing the lead in one or more of the show's musical numbers, of helping to choreograph and star in the dance routines. Some scenes will require you to work as part of a small team, but for the most part the entire cast works together with everyone involved in the performance's show-stopping musical routines. So whatever your speciality, you'll get involved in many different aspects of musical theatre... and have the time of your life in the process! This is the stream to choose if you particularly want to sing - rather than the dedicated Music stream which is for the instrumentalists. close Music We welcome contemporary as well as classical players, and folk with widely different musical tastes... from Reggae to Rock, Motown to Metal, or Gospel to Garage! Whatever your instrument and genre, you’ll benefit from playing in one or more bands; learn from professionals, and have oodles of creative fun as we rehearse (and sometimes even write) the soundtrack to our end of week production. We need good vocalists, too - and if that's you then you'll find your time split between working with the musicians in the 'pit' and the actors on the stage as you help lead the show's several musical numbers. You'll want to select the 'Stage' stream on your booking form. close Tech Showtime is a high-tech professional standard production that uses a mind-blowing amount of state of the art sound and lighting equipment that we ship in for the week. On our Tech stream you'll get your hands quite literally on nearly all of it! You'll help design and rig the computer controlled light show, man the sound desk and learn how to achieve the perfect mix, and get involved in the considerable amount of filming and video projection that we'll be doing too. Because we intend to give you maximum 'hands on' experience at the controls, this means that - not surprisingly - numbers are extremely limited. This stream routinely sells out, so our advice is to book-up early to avoid disappointment. close
For Showtime 2011 we have rented a fabulous boarding school in rural Staffordshire. It has dance studios with state of the art sprung floors, a music block with rehearsal rooms, a drama studio and of course a large stage with state of the art sound and lighting.
Outdoors you'll also get to enjoy the tennis courts, playing fields sports hall and superb indoor heated pool. At night, you'll sleep in one of the very comfortable small dorms sharing with 2-6 others. We'll do our very best to put you and your friends in the same dorm groups if you wish. Just ask us when you book.
If coming by train, then the nearest station is Rugeley Trent Valley. However, Stafford and Uttoxeter are also viable.
We'll advise in the weeks before camp as to what time you should aim to arrive. And we can happily arrange to pick you (and mum/dad) up at any of these stations if you let us know in advance.
