Camp XL's sensational Ski & Snowboarding Camp

Snowtime 2012 sees us off on a repeat visit to the fabulous Swiss resort of Adelboden, where we'll be taking over a spacious chalet on the edge of the picturesque village. This really is a highlight of the Camp XL year. We're only able to take around 25 of you, and this makes for an intimate/cosy camp with a fabulous atmosphere. You're going to love it!

accom What if I can't yet ski or snowboard?

No worries! We have qualified instructors on our team who will get you up on your feet in no time. Being part of a group like this is a great and fun way to learn, so whether you are an expert, or have never skied/boarded before, Snowtime is for you.

accom What does the price include?

Just about everything. The price will cover you for lift passes, equipment rental, accommodation, food and return coach travel to/from our departure point in London.

The only extras you will need in addition to what we are providing are ski wear (if you do not own your own, then you can almost certainly ask around and borrow from a friend a school). And if you already own your own boots or skis/snowboard, such that you do not need to hire any, then we'll be able to offer you a reduction in price. Just ask us. You'll also need to arrange for winter sports insurance, though many families already have this in their standard travel policies.

accom Do I need extra insurance?

Yes - you do. Camp XL is covered by public liability insurance (ask us for details of this is you need to), but that won't pay for any medical expenses in the event that you have an accident out there. This is typically called "Winter Sports" cover. You'll you'll be required to show proof of cover for this before you travel with us - but you will also have the option of arranging this through our office as part of a group policy that will cover others in our party.

You'll also need to have a valid EHIC card which will give you access to basic outpatient services there in case you fall ill.

accom Will my money be safe?

Snowtime falls under the legal definition of a 'Package Holiday', and as such certain regulations apply. These mean that Camp XL is required to put measures in place to protect your money in case we - or one of our service providers - should become insolvent and you lose your holiday or become stranded abroad.

There are various measures that companies can legally take. In our case we operate a clients' trust account, which keeps your money separate from our other funds until your are safely back in the UK. This account holds sufficient reserves to enable us to pay to bring you back home should the unthinkable happen!

Ask us if you'd like to understand more about this.

accom What if I am not a Christian?

No problem! All of Camp XL's programmes are open to young people from all faiths and backgrounds.

We'll make sure we give you as much time as we safely can in the snow, then each evening we'll take some time to learn together what it is that Christians believe - and why. Make of these brief times what you will, but we're confident you'll find them stimulating as well as entertaining.

accom The Venue & Accommodation

We're visiting the lovely Alpine ski resort of Adelboden Switzerland. With direct access to 170km of downhill skiing, and 70 individual pistes served by 55 lifts, it offers something for everyone. Although ideally suited to intermediate skiers (it boasts 50 'red' runs), it still caters well for the expert and the novice. And, with skiing above 2,000 metres and predominantly north-facing slopes, snow cover is generally reliable even this late in the season.

Sleeping accommodation is in a well-equipped chalet down in the village. There's a table tennis table as well as table football, and a heated dryer to warm up your ski boots ready for the next day!

The bedrooms are really comfortable and sleep between 4-8 each in 'proper' full sized beds.

accom Travel Information

Your travel to/from the ski resort is included in the price of this camp. We'll be going by coach - departing London around 6pm the evening of Friday March 30 - and arriving back around noon on Saturday April 7.

All you need to do is to get yourself to our departure point in London SW19 - which is ever so easy to do from Central London either by train or Underground.
