Join us for one amazing week in the gorgeous Swiss Alps. This fabulous camp is a real highlight of the Camp XL year - and it's sure to be a highlight of yours too!
New for 2014 we have partnered with our close friends at Richmond Holidays - the UK's premier Christian Holiday operator. With Richmond acting as legal providers of this holiday you get the full backing and comfort of their financial ATOL protection.
This amazing week is suitable both for experienced skiers/snowboarders, and just as suitable for those of you who'd like to try it for the very first time (our great instructors will get you on your skis/board in no time!). The days are full of fun on the slopes, and the evenings are loaded with even more fun down the chalet and village. Join us and let us prove to you that there's no time like Snowtime!
We'll be flying ot together from London's Heathrow airport on Monday April 6, and arriving back there late in the afternoon on April 14 (for full travel details, see the Travel Information section below). In between, that gives us six action filled days on the ski slopes of the fabulous resort of Adelboden.
So, bag youself a seat on the chairift, then sit back and get excited with some pics of last year's amazing week.
What if I can't yet ski or snowboard?
No worries! We'll arrange for qualified instructors to get you up on your feet in no time. Being part of a group like this is a great and fun way to learn, so whether you are an expert, or have never skied/boarded before, Snowtime is for you.
Outbound: Monday April 7, 2014
Return: Monday April 14, 2014
What does the price include?
Just about everything. The price will cover you for lift passes, equipment rental, accommodation, food and return travel to/from Heathrow,London.
The only extras you will need in addition to what is proved are ski wear (if you do not own your own, then you can almost certainly ask around and borrow from a friend a school). And if you already own your own boots or skis/snowboard, such that you do not need to hire any, then we'll be able to offer you a reduction in price. Just ask us. You'll also need to arrange for winter sports insurance, though many families already have this in their standard travel policies.
Do I need extra insurance?
Yes - you do. Camp XL is covered by public liability insurance (ask us for details of this is you need to), but that won't pay for any medical expenses in the event that you have an accident out there. This is typically called "Winter Sports" cover. You'll you'll be required to show proof of cover for this before you travel with us - but you will also have the option of arranging this through our office as part of a group policy that will cover others in our party.
You'll also need to have a valid EHIC card which will give you access to basic outpatient services there in case you fall ill.
Will my money be safe?
Because Snowtime includes air travel, there is a legal requirement that the holiday provider carry full ATOL protection, so that customers are reimbursed should an airline or accommodation provider become insolvent and you lose your holiday or become stranded abroad.
Because Snowtime is provided by Richmond Holidays, and Richmond offers full ATOL protection, you can be confident that your money is 100% safe under the terms of the UK's ATOL scheme.
It follows from this that when you book a place on Snowtime, you in fact enter in to a contract with Richmond Holidays.
Ask us if you'd like to understand more about this.
What if I am not a Christian?
No problem! All of Camp XL's programmes are open to young people from all faiths and backgrounds.
We'll make sure we give you as much time as we safely can in the snow, then each evening we'll take some time to learn together what it is that Christians believe - and why. Make of these brief times what you will, but we're confident you'll find them stimulating as well as entertaining.
The Venue & Accommodation
We're taking over a lovely chalet on the edge of the picturesque village of Adelboden, where you'll sleep in a small dorm alongside 4-6 others (same sex, of course!) on a proper full sized bed.
Adelboden is the perfect venue for a ski camp such as ours. Although it hosts the Word Cup Slalom circuit each year, it remains largely unknown by the packs of Ski tourists - and this means there is usually very little waiting time for chairlifts. But with over 170km of runs to suit all abilities, and a high level glacier to virtually assure us of snow in even the worst season, it's hard to beat.
