Let it Snow!
This is a ski camp like no other, and a real highlight of the Camp XL year. Whether you fancy skiing or snowboarding, whether you’re experienced or a complete novice, if you're aged 12-18 you’re assured of a sensational week full of fun, laughter and thrills.
Days start with a hearty breakfast and are then filled with action and laughter on the slopes. (Don't worry if you’re new to winter sports. We'll arrange instruction for you and get you on the slopes in no time). Then it's back to our chalet for afternoon tea, and a well deserved rest before dinner and further fun in the evening.
In the evenings, after supper, we'll come together for a few minutes and see what it is that Christians believe, and why. This is a time discuss, question and explore. Whilst we expect a number of those attending to be Christians, many will certainlny not be. So whatever your background, you'll be made very welcome and put very much at ease.
What does the price include?
If you plan to bring your own ski/snowboarding equipment, then the cost for you is £565.
If, like most, you need us to arrange hire of skis etc for you, then you will need to allow an additional £120, making the total price £685
Whichever the case, that price will cover your six-day lift pass, accommodation, meals, and local transfer from/to Geneva airport.
On top of that you'll need to allow for the cost of...
- International travel to/from Geneva airport (see the Travel section on this page)
- Winter sports insurance (see below), though many families already have this in their standard travel policies.
What if I've never skied or boarded before?
No worries! But you'll need to take lessons on at least the first couple of days, and we can hep you organise those for an additional cost. Most people find they are competent enough to access most areas of the mountain after that. Remember, being part of a group like this is an easy and fun way to learn.
Do I need insurance?
Yes, you do. Camp XL is covered by public liability insurance (ask us for details of this is you need to), but that won't pay for any medical expenses in the event that you have an accident out there. This is typically called "Winter Sports" cover. You'll you'll be required to show proof of cover for this before you ski with us.
You should also make sure you have a valid EHIC card which will give you access to basic outpatient services there in case you fall ill.
What if I'm not a Christian?
No problem! All of Camp XL's programmes are open people from all faiths and backgrounds.
We'll make sure we give you as much time as we can in the snow, then each evening we'll take some time to learn together what it is that Christians believe - and why.
Make of these brief times what you will, but we're confident you'll find them stimulating and engaging.
Majestic Swiss Alps
Snowtime has a new home for 2019!
Our venue for 2019 is the sensational resort of Saas-Fee in the German-speaking Swiss Alps: one of the highest in the Alps, and neighbouring the world-famous resort of Zermatt. Skiers will enjoy the 100km of slopes, most of which are north-facing and above 2,500 metres. It's a resort which is well suited to skiers and boarders of all abilities, with an impressive lift system that starts with a 30-person gondola able to ferry 1,500 people per hour up to the first chairift at 3,000 metres.
Our accommodation is a private chalet, 7 minutes away in the valley of Saas-Grund, and right across from the separate cable-car network of the Saas-Grund resort. That's right - we'll have access to not one but two separate resorts; one of which is just 2 minutes' walk from our front door!
sorry - check back later!
As in past years we will meet as a group in Geneva airport - allowing everyone to make their own travel arrangements from an airport of their choice. We will provide details regarding this just as soon as we are able
